Phantom of the Opera Tickets Information


The Phantom of the Opera musical is largely based on the 1911 book titled "Le Fantome de L'Opera" by Gaston Leroux. Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote the operetta musical. The music is also composed by Andrew. Lyrics are created by Charles Hart and additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe. The musical is direct by Hal Prince. The musical follows a beautiful singer who becomes obsessed by the mysterious figure known as "The Phantom of the Opera". The phantom terrorizes the Paris Opera House. An earlier version was written by Ken Hill. It was titled "Phantom" and debuted in London on October 9th 1986 at Her Majesty's Theatre. On May 31st 2008 the play had been performed nine thousand times.

Andrew Lloyd Webber officially announced that he was working on a sequel on February 16th 2007. The book was to be written by Ben Elton and lyrics written by Glen Slater. Andrew named the sequel The Phantom of Manhattan. The musical was adapted by the 1999 novel of the same name wrote by Frederick Forsyth.
