Jesus Christ Superstar was created by Andrew Lloyd Webber with assistance from Tim Rice. This rock opera was released as a double album in 1970. The rock opera is structured around the political and personal struggles of Judas Iscariot and Jesus. Much of the action follows the canonical gospels’ beliefs of the last weeks of Jesus’ life. The opera begins when Jesus and his followers arrive in Jerusalem and ends with Jesus’ Crucifixion. Judas continues to questions Jesus’ motives and divinity.
Jesus Christ Superstar was an album prior to becoming a Broadway opera in November 1998 for the first time. This wonderful rock opera has been performed live all over the world; Budapest, Broadway, Australia, United Kingdom, Prague, Madrid, and Vilnius this is only to name a few. In 1994 “Jesus Christ Superstar: A Resurrection” a studio recording was released.
