If you remember, Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was a Beatles' concept album and it was later adapted into a musical within the world of cinema. American Idiot followed the same route and its adaptation as a live musical premiered on the Berkeley Repertory Theater. Green Day will not appear on the live, on-stage adaptation of American Idiots. They are collaborators with Director Michael Mayer who won a Tony Award for the musical Spring Awakening. The show's cast include Tony Award winner John Gallagher, Jr. as Johnny, Michael Esper as Will, Tony Vincent (of Jesus Christ Superstar) as St. Jimmy and Rebecca Naomi Jones as Whatsername.
