The Nashville Predators were founded in 1998. The great ice hockey team is based out of Nashville, Tennessee. Their home arena is the Sommet Center formerly called the Gaylord Entertainment Center and Nashville Arena. It all began in 1997, when Craig Leipold requested the National Hockey League for an expansion franchise. Nashville had just offered a twenty million dollar relocation fund for any NHL team that would locate to the Nashville, Tennessee area. The league agreed for a franchise in Nashville but with conditions. They had to sell twelve thousand season tickets prior to March 31, 1998. In January 1998 they had only sold six thousand tickets. The city of Nashville paid eighty million dollars of the fee to assist with getting the franchise established in Nashville.
In 1997 the new ice hockey team logo was unveiled the new franchise would be known as the Nashville Predators. The first game was scheduled for October 10, 1998. They unfortunately lost to the Florida Panthers but by some luck won their second game again Carolina Hurricanes. The first few seasons turned out to be quiet a struggle with a horrible record. In the 2001-02 second the Nashville Predators won their 100th victory. This win made them known as the second-fastest expansion team on the 1990’s.
