Detroit Red Wings Tickets Information |
With an impressive ten Stanley Cups to their name, the most recent being the 2001-02 season, it’s not hard to understand why their fans get behind them and cheer them on so passionately. The team is a powerhouse full of talent, and they’re always setting their sites on the ultimate goal, the Stanley Cup. As if winning it ten times since their inception in 1932, every year the team is poised to take another shot at winning it, and usually comes incredibly close. An interesting tradition held by Detroit Red Wing fans is the ‘octopus throw’. It’s believed that throwing an octopus on the ice is good luck and will result in a win for the Red Wings. This tradition is usually carried out during home games for the playoffs.
Whenever the Red Wings score a goal, or before the game starts, fans will throw pre-boiled octopi onto the ice for good luck. Whether it works or not is up to you, but it sure makes for a fun and interesting night. Attending a Red Wings home game is highly encouraged if possible. Their home games are a shining example of what the NHL is all about and what it’s capable of, both in respect to the players and the fans.
