The hockey team known as the Dallas Starts was previously known as the Minnesota North Stars which began playing in 1967. The team switched names in 1993. The North Stars were never able to capture the Stanley Cup. They made it in to the Stanley Cup Finals but lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1990. The team was moved to the Reunion Arena in Dallas Texas in 1993 and was renamed to the Stars. Minnesota got a new team in 2000 in the Minnesota Wild.
The new found Dallas Stars made it to the 1994 playoffs only to lose to the Vancouver Canucks. The Starts would finally capture the Stanley Cup in 1999 with a win of the Buffalo Sabres. The team returned to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2000 only to lose to the New Jersey Devils. They teams moved to a new arena for the 2001 2002 season. The American Airlines Center became the team's new home. In the past ten seasons the team has won two Presidents' Trophies for the best overall regular season record and also won seven division titles and two Western Conference titles.
