The Buffalo Sabres are based out of Buffalo, New York. They are an ice hockey team that belongs to the Northeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League. The Buffalo Sabres were originally known as the Buffalo Bisons prior to becoming a member of the NHL. They were founded in 1970 by Seymour Knox III and Northrup Knox from Western New York. The Buffalo Sabres joined the National Hockey League in 1974, not making the playoffs but finishing in a tie for the best record in the 1974-1975 season.
