The Cotton Bowl used to be known as the Mobil Cotton Bowl Classic when it was still being sponsored by Mobil Oil from 1989 to 1995. The first Cotton Bowl Classic in 1937 was financed by J. Curtis Stanford, a Texas oil executive. The game has attracted 17,000 attendees but did not make money until 1938 when 37,000 spectators watched the Rice defeat Colorado 28-14. The audience increased to 40,000 during the St. Mary's and Texas tech match in 1939. The transfer of the Cotton Bowl to its new Stadium in Arlington by 2010 has raised concerns about the very cold weather in Dallas during January but the people behind the game has assured fans that that they would be protected from the weather thanks to the Stadium's top amenities. The Cotton Bowl has been televised live since 1999 particularly in CBS where Lindsey Nelson gives a play-by-play account. However, nothing can beat a live show so get your Cotton Bowl tickets now.
