The Suns had been playing fairly well but needs a beam of sunlight to energize their play to get into the finals. In 1975, they made it to the NBA finals but since then, it's been a thorny road to climb up to the playoffs. The 1992"“93 season is perhaps the Sun's best regular season performance when Charles Barkely led the Suns to garner a 62"“20 record, moving their way up to a playoff run that ended in the Finals, only to lose their chance to the Bulls in 6 games. The Suns won 62 again in 2004, and have been to the Western Conference Finals in 2004 and 2005.
The Phoenix Suns made a big step and turned things around by trading players and changing their coaching staff. In 2003"“04, their current coat Mike D'Antoni cam onboard and turned the Suns back into where they are now.
In the 2006"“07 season, the Phoenix Suns made it to the top of the Pacific Division but their chance wavered off when the San Antonio Spurs hammered them in the second round and finally won the championships. The Phoenix Suns surprised their fans and sports analysts when they made to trade Kurt Thomas to the Seattle SuperSonic and the addition of Grant Hill.
Will they continue to depend on Amare Stoudamire, Steve Nash, Joe Johnson and Shawn Marion or will they need more weapons to nab an NBA championship title this time around?
