Having built a dynasty through the 60s, the 76ers have an old and loyal fan-base built through many years of excellent play and providing great entertainment for those who showed up to their games. The 76ers were at their prime during the golden years of the NBA, long before every player was a giant and the fundamentals of the game were still being worked out. Dunking was still an impressive feat and would draw loud applause from the crowd and stun many who have never seen the act before.
The 76ers today have preserved this era perfectly and yet stay competitive with many of the other major names in the NBA. The fundamentals of the game have not been forgotten and the team still drills constantly on them, and it shows on the court. Head coach Maurice Cheeks hasn't led the team astray yet and being one of the few old school coaches around he has trained a team that will still put on a show as good as your father saw when he was a kid.
