Founded in 1946 as the Detroit Gems, they didn't stay in Detroit long, only a year in-fact. A two-decade move to Minneapolis proved to bring more fans to the stadium, and it was a much better environment for the team that had always been graved with talent. Eventually, the team was moved to what would become one of the epicenters of the NBA. Los Angeles has become the one and only location for big events and big games on the West coast. Some of the most notable games and championships have been played in LA and by the Lakers.
Kobe Bryant and Shaq were the two main draws for Laker games, often times over-shadowing equally skilled players. However, because of infighting and administration oversight, Shaq was traded to the Miami Heat and now Kobe is the heart and sole of the Lakers, leading on the rookies to numerous victories. At times, the LA Lakers have been compared to the Yankees in the MLB.
Whether it's true that they dominate the courts in an almost unfair manor is up to you, but one thing is certain, they have provided some of the most stunning and fun to watch basketball games over the past decade.
