The race is run under the relief of the cool Daytona nights, something that many drivers in the past have been thankful for. Night races are growing increasingly rare in the NASCAR series and it’s unfortunate that they’re not more widespread. Racing at night not only provides an incredibly interesting experience for the drivers, but for the fans as well. The cool night air, and the darkness which it brings, causes an atmosphere that’s not achievable in any other race. Night races such as the Coke Zero 400 also provide the perfect viewing platform for the audience, as they don’t have to sit through sweltering heat that is so common at the Daytona raceway in the month of July.
The Coke Zero 400 is the second major race in a cup event, and is usually scheduled almost back to back with the Daytona 250. If you happen to get tickets to the Coke Zero 400 and are in town, take advantage of the closely scheduled Daytona 250 race, and count it as a two for one.
