The Coca Cola 600 or World 600 is a stock care race that is held in Concord, North Carolina at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway. It is held annually traditionally on the weekend of Memorial Day. It consists of six hundred miles or nine hundred sixty-six kilometer miles which is the longest Nascar Sprint Cup Series race. The first race took place in 1960. In May 2005 the Coca Cola 600 gained another record with the most cautions that ever took place in any NASCAR race of a total of twenty-two cautions.
Joe Lee Johnson was the first winner of the World 600 race in 1960 and Bobby Allison being the last winner in 1984. Then the race changed names from World 600 to the Coca Cola World 600 in 1985. Darrell Waltrip won the only race under the Coca Cola World 600 name in 1985. In 1986 the race became known at the Coca Cola 600. The legendary Earl Earnhardt won the first race under its new title and won the race again in 1992 and 1993. The extraordinary NASCAR race driver Jeff Gordon has followed in suit winning the race three times in 1994, 1997, and 1998.
