Born in 1933 in the town of Abott, Texas, Willie Hugh Nelson discovered his love for music when he gave his first public performance at the age of four. Nelson and his sister Bobbie were raised by their grandparents when his father died and their mother left them behind. Both kids were musically inclined. His sister played the piano while he played the guitar. Bobbie met Bud Fletcher in high school and they both joined his band while Willie was still in high school. Nelson landed his own radio show before graduating in high school. At 23, he financed and recorded his first song, “No Place For Me.” He worked as full time country deejay for KCNC and started writing songs on the side.
Now, after more than 100 albums, he is considered as one of the most accomplished guitarists and greatest writers this industry has ever had. Despite changing times and trends in music, Willie Nelson is pretty much the same as he first rose to success in the middle of 1970s. This music legend plays a significant role in post-rock and roll country music genre.
Although he did not become a star overnight, he was first a song writer creating songs for stars like Ray Price, Patsy Cline, Faron Young and Billy Walker.
