Tony Bennett, who was born in Astoria, New York, became a famous pop and jazz singer not only once but several times during the entire lifetime of his career. While most singers have been passed on due to the demand for modern songs and singers, Tony Bennett continued to thrive and while his magic sizzled, it never fanned out.
Tony Bennett's shining star lost its sparkle in the late 60s when major recording companies turned to musicians who could give what the growing rock market demanded. Advised to go with the flow and reinvent himself, Bennett recorded novelty songs as well as contemporary songs veering on pop and rock. This did not save Bennett's career and he found himself not affiliated with any label at all. Bennett founded his own label company but it also failed.
Bennett however found a way to sustain his fledgling career and this was through the holding of concerts all over the world. He went back to his old label — Columbia Records and recorded the same standard songs being recorded by his contemporaries like Linda Rondstadt. That was a brilliant move because Bennett managed to sustain his career without changing himself or his way of singing. He survived by singing the songs of Frank Sinatra and Billy Holiday. He did not only capture the hearts and patronage of the MTV generation but he also won a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Performance and even for Album of the Year.
Tony Bennett has made it even to the 21st century and if you want to witness sheer talent live then buy your Tony Bennett Tickets ahead of time.
