Like every band who ever desired to make a name for themselves, The Black Keys started out slow. Their debut arrived around the same time as The White Stripes, and like The White Stripes, they, too, desired to hearken back to the basic roots of Rock. This desire and passion for the Rock genre tradition fueled and pushed them forward into becoming one of the most respected musical artists of their kind.
Earning a position on the top 5 list for best performing rock bands, the duo themselves were not always so successful. Actually, their name came from a rather sad condition that both members shared - Schizophrenia. The name "Black Keys" was taken from the black keys found on the keyboard. Of course, in the Blues, the black keys are used quite frequently, giving the duo a special connection. Despite this difficult background, they have remained active since 2001, playing live and writing new material.
With the mixture of Rock and the Blues, and their desire to remain edgy, their performances are always a must-see. Never will you witness such a breathtaking event, as The Black Keys continue to revolutionize the Rock genre with their amazing sense of ingenuity and steadfast hold onto the Rock tradition.
