The child of a military man, Springfield took to music at a young age, playing the piano at the age of nine, and following that up with the guitar a mere four years later. It wasn't until the second half of the sixties before Rick Springfield began any type of professional musical career, his first real taste of the business was playing shows for soldiers during the Vietnam War. Afterwards Springfield went back to his native Australia and was involved in a number of bands, eventually deciding to pursue a solo career. A hit single 'Speak to the Sky' boosted his confidence and he began releasing album after album. Along the way he picked up a Grammy award for his immensely popular song 'Jessie's Girl'.
If catchy guitar rifts with light hearted lyrics happen to be your thing try picking up Rick Springfield's newest album 'Christmas With You' which was released in 2007. The charts have been splattered with his singles since the 70s and as long as he continues to make music his name will be out there, so why not pick up CD and get properly introduced?
