Their punk style ska kind of music was brought about from the Clash's earlier records, with their left-leaning politics while adding some spikes into it. Their political commitment, charisma and emotion have drawn a lot of praises. These distinct features are due to the fact that they were one of the most popular new punk banks in the history of music, right after Offspring and Green Day.
The punk group was formed in 1991 in Berkeley California by San Francisco Bay area punk enthusiasts Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman. They scored a major blow when they released And Out Come the Wolves¯, which became platinum in 1995. Other hits were Ruby Soho¯, Time Bomb¯ and Roots Radicals¯. They returned in 1998 with even heavier ska style of music with Life Won't Wait¯, which featured guest stars such as the Specials and Hepcat, Dicky Barett of the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Reggae artist Buju Banton, and Roger Miret of the Agnostic Front.
