Born in 1944, Marvin Hamlisch is an EGOT, meaning he is one of the few artists to have won an Emmy Award, a Grammy Award, and Oscar, and a Tony Award. Apart from this, as an American composer he has also won two Golden Globe awards and a Pulitzer Prize. Most known for his revolutionary show, A Chorus Line, which won the Pulitzer, Hamlisch has won 4 Emmys, 4 Grammys, 3 Oscars, and one Tony award. As a composer, he has written scores for famous films such as The Informant, Ice Castles, The Swimmer, Ordinary People, and Sophie’s Choice among others. He is also known for writing music for The Way We Were, The Entertainer, and Nobody Does It Better. As a conductor, Hamlisch has arranged and directed Barbra Streisand’s concert tours and has positions in the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, the Seattle Symphony, the San Diego Symphony, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra, and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
