The band is most notable for their southern pride anthem ‘Sweet Home Alabama’. They happen to be anything but a one-hit wonder, contrary to what some seem to believe. The band has a long history lined with successes and failures, but in the end they have persevered much like the people whom they sing about while on stage and in the studio.
Lynyrd Skynyrd started with a group of teenage friends who all had a love for rock, and country, along with a passion for playing their respective instruments. The band quickly blossomed into something beyond any of their wildest dreams and they soon found themselves touring frequently all throughout the 70s. An unfortunate accident during the year of 1977 resulted in much of the band being killed, and the other half being seriously injured. While this event severely hampered the band, it didn’t keep them from releasing new albums such as “Vicious Cycle” which hit the streets in 2003.
The band has yet to reclaim the fame they once had before the awful crash, but they continue to tour to this day and many original fans claim their music is unchanged and just as good.
