Born in 1953 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Louie Perry Anderson was the second youngest in a family with 11 children. His family proved to be a rich source of material for much of his comedy. His life experiences with his family and his childhood and teenage experiences make interesting topics in his stand-up performances. Louie Anderson has even created Life with Louie which is a cartoon series for television which he based on his childhood in a large family. This show even won two Emmy Awards during the time that it aired on FOX for three years. He has written three books during his rich career and also hosted the Family Feud game show during its 1999 to 2002 airings, a role which beat Dolly Parton to. As an actor his has appeared on Perfect Strangers, The Louie Show, Touched by an Angel, Scrubs, Grace under Fire, and Chicago Hope. Since then, he has performed in Las Vegas regularly and stars in the Minneapolis New Year’s Eve comedy show. He also goes on comedy shows on Showtime and HBO and appeared in The Weakest Link in 2001 where he won $31,000. His other activities include his co-founding of H.E.R.O. which helps homeless people empower themselves to achieve goals that they otherwise cannot without the empowerment training and boost in self-confidence.
