Margaret LeAnn Rimes became a star after appearing on Star Search in 1990. She was only 8 years old. Before she even turned 11, she had released Everybody’s Sweetheart. She continued to produce albums between 1992 and 1994, but they didn’t gain any success in the eyes of the country music industry. ‘Blue’, the album that became a hit was released when she was just 13 years old. The album sold roughly 6 million copies. It went six times platinum by the RIAA as well as in two other countries. She received two Grammies as well as Country Music Association Horizon Award for ‘Blue’. This made her the youngest musician in the country music industry ever.
LeAnn Rimes was married in 2002 to Dean Sheremet, who was a dancer auditioning for a part in one of her videos. Currently the couple live in Nashville, Tennessee. She was chosen to sing the opening song for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. The song was ‘Light the Fire Within’. That same year she was also recognized as #39 in the CMT’s 40 Greatest Women in Country Music. Right after her 21st birthday, LeAnn released her ‘Greatest Hits’ album which in 2007 went platinum. She has won various awards in her short life time.
LeAnn Rimes became the host of Nashville Star on the USA Network for one season. On a CMT ‘Giants’ episode, LeAnn paid homage to Reba McEntire by singing her rendition of the song ‘The Greatest Man I Never Knew’.
LeAnn Rimeswas chosen to record the song ‘Ready for A Miracle’ in early June of 2007 for the movie ‘Evan Almighty’. She had a small part in the movie ‘Good Intentions’ as well as having a part in a CMT ‘Crossroads’ special aired in 2007. She was in the line-up for two out of the five Freedom concerts in 2007. In the summer of 2008 she is scheduled to open for Kenny Chesney.
