Jonny Lang was born in Fargo, North Dakota, and got his first musical education with the Bad Medicine Blues Band at the age of 12. The band taught him how to play the guitar, practiced with him, and ultimately hired him as their guitarist. They then changed the band's name to Kod Jonny Lang. With the success of their first venture "Smokin'", he inked an individual contract with A&M, and finally released "Lie To Me" in 1997, which reached Platinum status.
Jonny Lang showcased his classical guitar style in many of his releases, including Wander Thos World in 1998, which reached No. 28 in Billboard's top 200 albums, and Long Time Coming in 2001, which reached no. 17 on the charts. He was nominated for a Grammy Award for the album Wander This World (which also became Platinum), and performed in the White House for then President Bill Clinton in 1999. He has jammed with Mick Jagger, Elton John, Bono, and other popular artists.
