Johnny Mathis was born in Gilmer, Texas on September 30th 1935. Johnny is a very popular American Grammy Award winning singer. Johnny is one of the last male vocalists still alive who emerged before the rock dominated 1960s. Mathis solely focused on romantic jazz and pop throughout the 1980s. Johnny started his career with a bundle of very popular singles. However, Johnny was much more popular as an album artist. Johnny Mathis received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003 by the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. The award is often presented by a vote to performers who have made creative contributions of significance to the world of recording. Mathis was also inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
