John Fogerty is a founding member of the superstar rock band of the 70s Credence Clearwater Revival. After his stint with CCR, he had a successful solo career. John hails from Berkeley, California. Tom Fogerty, the guitarist of the band was John’s elder brother. CCR had its heyday from 1967 to 1972. The band’s monster hit Proud Mary was composed by John on 1969 and was part of the album named Bayou County. The song was actually written while John was riding the steamboat Mary Elizabeth. The most memorable cover of the song, and familiar to everyone is that of Tina Turner’s. This song hit number one on US charts. |

Due to internal rifts with other band members, John decided to go solo and was quite successful at it. In 1974, he released his first album called The Blue Ridge Rangers. He played all the instruments that can be heard on that album. In 1976, his next self titled album came out. In 1985, his career revived with the release of the album Centerfield. The carrier single of the album was The Old Man Down the Road and is a signature song played up to this day on classic rock radio and baseball games.
