Ingrid Michaelson may have a sweet voice, but her music is a blend of rock and pop. She was recently featured in Grey's Anatomy, where her songs were used as the soundtrack for some emotional scenes. Ingrid Michaelson is the daughter of composer Carl Michaelson and sculptor Elizabeth Egbert. Ingrid may be a success at 29 years old, but she still lives with her parents. She started training for the piano as early as five, and continued training at the S.I. Dorothy Delson Kuhn Music Institute's Jewish Community Center, where she met Elizabeth McCulough, who became her coach up until high school. She graduated with a degree in theater from Binghamton University.

Her songs are a reflection of her simplicity and soul searching. She is starting to make waves in the indi-pop-folk-rock music category.
