The band got its beginning in 1972 when the band originally formed and began practicing together. It wasn’t until 1980 that they released their first album which was self-titled. Their debut album was not well received and ultimately failed to sell as well as they had anticipated. For their second album Huey Lewis and the News focused much more on a rock perspective and the result was their second album “Picture This” which topped out at number thirteen on the charts and went gold.
Gaining momentum the band went into their third album with immense confidence and knew they would release their best work yet. Intense guitar work and intricate drumming led to their third album “Sports” which hit the shelves in 1983 and went platinum seven times, which is impressive for any artist, let alone a group such as Huey Lewis. Their last album was released in 2001 however the band continues to tour and refine their sound live on stage.
Traveling to one of their shows will reward you with an ever evolving list of material being played by one of the most talented rock bands around.
