Although members change from time to time, their main instruments and music genre have remained the same. Gogol Bordello’s front man is Eugene Hutz, who also plays acoustic guitar and percussions. Hutz started listening to Einsturzande Neubauten and Birthday Party in his home country of Ukraine. In 1986, he left his native country after the disastrous Chernobyl nuclear plant catastrophe.

The band has their own following, and their fans have always enjoyed their live stage shows. The good thing about them is their energy and enthusiasm, which rubs off on you, when they perform on stage. They usually play in large concert tours like the Vans Warped Tour or Live Earth. Hutz travelled from country to country. He went from Hungary to Poland, Austria, Italy, and then to America. His first years were very hard, but he adjusted well enough and decided to pursue a career in music. He soon organized a band composed of squeeze box player, Sasha Kazatchoff ,and guitarist Vlad Solofar. And soon after, drummer Elito Ferguson joined the band. In 1999, the band released their debut single, “When The Trickster Comes a Pokin.” A full length debut titled, “Voi-La Intruder,” came next. In 2005, the band released “Gypsy King” and “East Infection.” In 2007, they released Super Taranta!”
