A Prairie Home Companion was founded by Garrison Keillor and originated from the Fitzgerald Theater. A Prairie Home Companion went live in 1974 at which time the name was taken from a radio show that aired in 1969 at the Janet Wallace Auditorium of Macalester College. Since its relocation to the Fitzgerald Theater, the two hour show has been a hit on the road and on public radio.
